This was told to me by an Indian colleague:
Three men are asleep in a room. A prankster comes in, and paints a dot on the forehead of each. All three men then wake up, glance at each other, and all start snickering (only women are supposed to have dots on the forehead, so this is the rough equivalent of seeing your burly friend wearing women's clothing). Then, one of them stops laughing.
He stopped laughing because he figured out that he must also have a dot. How did he figure this out? No one is pointing or saying anything, so each man could think that the other two are laughing at each other's dots.

all three are laughing.
if one were not laughing the dot would be painted on him...
if the dot were painted on only two... all three would still be laughing.
did he paint any of the dots himself?
I'm assuming there is no mirror reflective surface - too easy.

Thu, October 25, 2007 - 8:41 AMThis is strictly a logic puzzle... no lateral thinking jumps necessary.
I'll post a fun riddle that does involve a lateral thinking jump separately. -

not sure this is the answer... but, giving it a try...
If the non-laugher sees too other dot's - he could surmise one of two possibilities:
1.) he would have done it - since the joke was played on the two others in the room
or
2.) someone else snuck into the room and it would then be *very* likely that all three would have been hit rather than a selective two.
yes, no?
